The Beautiful Benefits of Blueberries

The Beautiful Benefits of Blueberries

While TULA products are best known for our probiotics ingredient, there are plenty of other healthy goodies in our formulas. We've based these "skin smoothies" on what we know to be some of the best foods for our gut.Today, we're taking a look at one of the core complex ingredients: Blueberries.

They are one of the most nutrient dense foods in the world as well as one of the world's highest and most effective antioxidant foods. Native to North America, blueberries are rich in proanthocyanidin, a natural antioxidant that's proven to reverse damage done by toxins, dangerous pathogens, and, most importantly, inflammation.

Another component of the blueberry is gallic acid: a powerful anti-fungal and anti-viral agent. To top it off, blueberries are chock-full of vitamins such as A, E, K and C as well as Manganese and fiber.

In essence, these little, round blueberries have health benefits that far exceed their small size and are powerful for both the inside and the out. Here are some outlined for you:

Benefits on the INSIDE

[ Combat Aging ]

We all know antioxidants are "good", but how exactly do they help prevent signs of aging? Antioxidants are "good" molecules that react with free radicals and prevent them from causing damage to your skin like age spots, fine lines, etc. They do battle against free radical attack!

[ Boost the Brain ]

The gallic acid in blueberries makes them neuro-protective agents. Huh? That means they literally protect the brain from degeneration, neurotoxicity and stress which can take a long term toll on our overall mental and physical health.

[ Support Digestion ]

As a source of soluble and insoluble fiber, blueberries help promote the growth of good bacteria (probiotics!) in your gut.

[ Help Your Heart ]

Blueberries have been shown to help lower your LDL (bad) cholesterol naturally, raise your HDL (good) cholesterol, and lower your blood pressure.

Benefits on the OUTSIDE

[ Reduce Inflammation ]

Blueberries have a high concentration of salicylates, which is the salt of salicylic acid, and can help reduce inflammation caused by acne and clogged pores.

[ Bye-bye Sebum ]

Many of the vitamins in blueberries, particularly vitamin A, neutralize or normalize oil levels in your skin making it less likely to accumulate sebum, the oily substance from your sebaceous glands that can cause acne.

[ Enhance Blood Vessels ]

If the blood vessels just below the surface of your skin are weak, your skin can become splotchy or tiny red lines called spider veins can appear. The vitamin C in blueberries strengthens your skin's blood vessels and increases your circulatory health which prevents lines and blotches.

[ Adieu to Wrinkles and Dark Spots ]

When used topically, the vitamin A in blueberries can also help reduce wrinkles and eliminate dark spots.
